I have another dA page. One where I'm actually popular.

Yes, yes, it's true, I do indeed have another page here on dA; it's not really important what my username is or anything because this isn't a journal intended to whore myself out or anything. Rather, it's just to rant slightly. I believe this is one of my first ever dA-related rants in the long time that I've been using this website, so prepare yourselves for some pent-up angst!

Okay, so. It all started with a certain user here on dA that I happen to watch on this page. I'm a rather big fan of their artwork and used to comment on it from time to time, leaving my thoughts and opinions on the work in a kind and constructive manner, not just comments like "LOL O CUTE". I really wanted to let this artist know how much they've inspired me, so I figure why not send them a friendly note, telling them how much their work had impacted me. I mean, I went all out in this note, and I thought it was rather nice. I know I'd be touched beyond words if anyone ever said that about me. But, after weeks, of course I don't get a response, didn't get a thankyou for the comments I left them, etc.

On my other page, I get flooded with comments, questions, and notes daily. Sure, sometimes it does get overwhelming, but I make sure that if the person showed a genuine interest in my work that I thank them profusely. They didn't NEED to take valuable time out of their day to sit down and say "Hey, you're really talented", so don't you think that at least deserves a measly "thanks a bunch!"? I'm not trying to toot my own horn here and say I'm the best deviant that ever lived! All bow down! But what I'm trying to say is that these popular artists on dA that act like their shit doesn't stink really need to step down and demonstrate a bit of humility. I mean, the reason one comes to dA is to connect with other artists and share thoughts and ideas, right? But maybe that's just wishful thinking. Sometimes it seems more like these people are looking to further their ego trips by seeing how many people they can get to tell them that they're the best ever.

So I guess to all those popular artists out there that say "OH, I DON'T HAVE THE TIME TO RESPOND TO YOUR KIND AND THOUGHTFUL COMMENTS" I guess I just have one thing to say to you.

Yeah, right.
